Purchase Carbon Credits
We purchase Renewable Energy Credits from our partner, Renewable Choice Energy (RCE), to help offset Votenet Solutions' environmental impact. We are supporting the generation of wind powered electricity via RCE's American Wind™ power product, a blend of renewable energy credits from wind farms across North America, primarily in the U.S. The number of offsets purchased take into account aspects of Votenet’s supply chain, including production and delivery of our online voting solution.

Recycling Program
Votenet has a fully functioning recycling program supported and regulated through our building manager. We recycle all appropriate items and have successfully reduced our waste by: eliminating all disposable cups, silverware, and dishes in favor of reusable items, discouraging printing of non-essential material, printing inter-office materials on previously used paper before recycling and limiting the use of paper-based marketing materials

Environmentally-friendly HR Practices
Votenet has a firm policy of allowing and encouraging employees to work from home as appropriate, and we have upgraded to a state-of-the-art phone system that can be accessed from anywhere to help accomplish this. Also, all of the information needed for an employee to be productive during any given workday is available online. We also encourage employees to use metro or other earth-friendly methods of commuting when they do come into the offices by a pre-tax transportation benefit and by having a centrally located office. In fact, out of all of our DC- based employees, three walk to work, one bikes weather permitting, seven take public transportation, and only one drives.
