Washington, D.C., November 20, 2007 - Continuing its strong momentum in the association industry and in advancing Web-based voting technology, Votenet™ Solutions, Inc., the leading provider of secure online voting and nomination solutions for associations, corporations, law firms, non-profits, universities and organizations, announced today that the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) successfully completed the association industry's first 100% online election with real-time eligibility tracking through its use of the eBallot Web-based voting solution. eBallot enabled NABJ to conduct its biannual board of directors elections and announce the official results during its August 2007 national convention, by verifying voter eligibility and geographical location of its nearly 4,000 members in real-time through unique integration with their Avectra netFORUM™ association management database.
"The eBallot voting solution has been extremely beneficial to NABJ and was well worth the investment," stated Kristin Palmer, NABJ Communications Manager. "The system has not only increased voter participation, but it has also streamlined the administration process for the elections committee by allowing them to tailor the ballot to meet the needs of different audiences within our membership."
The NABJ board of directors consists of a president, voted on by all NABJ members, and representatives of 12 U.S. geographic regions, voted on only by NABJ members residing in those regions. eBallot, through integration with Avectra, automatically determined eligibility for NABJ members upon their login to the voting section of the NABJ Web site. The integration between the systems permitted members who had joined NABJ as recently as that day to vote in the election, but it restricted voting access for those who had not yet renewed their memberships or renewed after the cutoff date. After eligibility was determined, eBallot seamlessly determined the geographic location of members and produced the ballot customized for their region.
At the close of the voting period, the NABJ election committee immediately received the final election results, enabling them to publicly announce the official results and congratulate the newly elected board of directors at the close of the conference.
"Real-time eligibility tracking is the next evolutionary phase for Web-based voting, enabling organizations to leverage the valuable data already available in their membership databases to authenticate voters," stated Michael Tuteur, CEO, Votenet Solutions, Inc. "Due to our deep technological experience and our Web-based architecture, eBallot is easily integrated with a variety of membership management applications already used by clients."
