Case Study - International City/County Managers Association
About Us
International City/County Managers Association is the professional and educational organization for chief appointed managers, administrators, and assistants in cities, towns, counties, and regional entities throughout the world. Since 1914, ICMA has provided technical and management assistance, training, and information resources to its members and the local government community. The management decisions made by ICMA''s nearly 9,000 members affect more than 100 million individuals in thousands of communities - from small towns with populations of a few hundred to metropolitan areas serving several million.
The system is simple, seamless and intuitive. The reporting systems were awesome. The customer service is impeccable. There''s always someone to walk you through the steps. One of the better experiences I''ve ever had with a vendor.
Challenges
ICMA, with a membership of 9,000+, used to tabulate the paper ballots by hand. Up to 15 staff members spent an entire day out of office to count the votes. The organization wanted and needed an online alternative to voting the old-fashioned way.
Solutions
ICMA chose Votenet''s eBallot solution to replace the paper ballots. The automated email reminders helped increase participation and made it easier for their international members to vote. Londa Jericho, Director of Customer Contact Center and Order Fulfillment, said the solution worked so well for elections that they plan to use it for surveys as well.
Impact
"We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the electronic ballot. Votenet''s cost effective for us too; we didn''t have to have 10-15 staff members out for the whole day, plus feeding them breakfast lunch and snacks. It''s down to an hour and a half and four people," Jericho said. "One of the better experiences I''ve ever had with a vendor. It was really more of a partnership."
